Can acupuncture help arthritis?

Of course acupuncture can help arthritis! Did you know, there’s an 3000 year old Chinese term for arthritis, called bi syndrome? Bi syndrome is always a large part of every acupuncture medical textbook, even those that date back 3000 years.

When the system of medicine you practice has been treating arthritis for over 3000 years, then something must be working!

Arthritis is a progressive, degenerative condition – that means wear and tear over time that just gets worse and worse. Usually my patients complain of an ache that starts in their knees, back, neck, hip or shoulder that just keeps getting worse and worse over time. Unfortunately conventional medicine does a really bad job at stopping the progression of arthritis and usually the only option they offer you is to wait until it gets bad enough to have surgery.
In my practice, waiting until something gets bad enough that you need surgery is simply unacceptable. The good news is that acupuncture can help to slow and even stop the progression of arthritis.
That alone is a huge win!

Even better news is that acupuncture actually helps to eliminate that pain that comes from arthritis by helping to calm down inflammation and increase circulation to areas that are hurting.

There have been a whole lot of really great research to show that acupuncture is helpful for osteoarthritis, which is one of the more common forms that most people experience as they age. Most of these studies show that a treatment plan for acupuncture involves 8-16 treatments over the course of 1-3 months to see a significant reduction in pain and discomfort.

So if your knees are aching or your back or hip is always sore and you feel like you’re starting to miss out on the things you enjoy in life, then it’s time to take charge of your health and try something different.
